    September Wrap-Up

September was, unfortunately, a month filled with disappointment. I was off on such a good start. I was smashing books left and right in the first two weeks…but then…I moved house. Moving house has been so time-consuming and exhausting that finding time to read was super hard. Not only because I was too tired to read but also the probable scrutiny from my parents if they saw me doing it that I was constantly paranoid about (“what are you doing? why shouldn’t you be helping to pack/unpack?”). They probably wouldn’t say that…but I’m never sure. I tried my best, I really did. This reading month wasn’t at all horrible per se, I am…

    Meet the Blogger: Q&A

So about a week ago I asked the lovely people on Instagram and Twitter to ask me some questions for a Q&A. It’s another way you guys can learn a little bit more about me and likewise for you, the amazing readers. I was almost crying this morning when I found out I had reached 50 followers on this blog. Thank you all so much <3 It means a lot to me. So, here are the questions: 1. What Motivates You and Why? I honestly don’t know how to answer this question haha UM…I guess I do strive for success in general – I have this innate drive to always try…

    Spring Blogging Goals & Reflections

Hey There! I’m ALIVE. It has been a long and excruciating week since I’ve blogged and it actually pains me because I wanted to write so bad but I physically couldn’t since I was moving house! I had so many posts planned and so many books I wanted to finish but I had hardly any time to read either T_T I am hoping to get through some books before the end of September this weekend so wish me luck – ANYWAY, since I was reflecting and thinking about it I realised that it’s been TWO MONTHS exactly since I started my blog. It is my 2 month anniversary I guess and I…

WTF Wednesday: 5 Weird Book Facts You Probably Didn’t Know

Hello Everybody! Welcome to my second post for my new meme WTF Wednesday! Today is all about learning some really weird facts about reading that honestly made me go wtf when I read them. They’re quirky and strange, and here they are:   1. The Japanese word ‘tsundoku’ means ‘buying a load of books and then not getting round to reading them’. It’s official. The Japanese know exactly how we feel that they actually have a word for it! And to think some people think English is superior. Has anyone created a word like ‘tsundoku’ in English? I think not (and no mum, that’s not called laziness).   2. Alice in…

5 Fantasy Series I’d Like to Start but Haven’t Yet

There are many many books that I have on my wishlist but also many that I see daily on Instagram and from my WordPress reader that I have yet to read and don’t always know what they’re about either. I find it super exciting nowadays to start a book without really knowing what it’s about and slowly finding out what’s lurking within its pages. This is why in this little discussion post, I’ll list 5 fantasy series I’d like to start and haven’t yet THAT I don’t actually know what they’re about too well. Especially in the fantasy genre there are some book series that are super hyped up by my friends…

    Wildcard Book Review

It was the absolute best surprise and it made my week to find a review copy of Wildcard by Marie Lu on my doorstep, a mere 2 days after I finished my Warcross reread in anticipation for this sequel. Thank you so much Penguin Random House/Penguin Teen Australia for sending me this review copy in exchange for an honest review. It’s such an honour T_T Ok, let’s review this baby. WARNING!  Wildcard is the sequel to Warcross, therefore, there will, of course, be SPOILERS to Warcross.   Goodreads Blurb:   Emika Chen barely made it out of the Warcross Championships alive. Now that she knows the truth behind Hideo’s new NeuroLink algorithm, she can…

The Real Scientific Benefits of Reading

You guys may have NO IDEA how good reading actually is for your body. For one of my current university design projects, I’m designing a campaign to get more young adults reading and here are some pretty awesome scientific facts and health benefits about reading you probably didn’t know about. If you didn’t know already, I’m a little bit of a science nerd, I’ve always loved science so this is super fun to write about.     Reading Makes Us Smarter   When we read, we’re using a lot of different mental functions and it actually strengthens the brain. It’s basically the best workout for your brain because you’re using a…

After The Lights Go Out Book Review

I finally got my teeth into this gorgeous book only a few weeks after meeting the lovely author and I really really enjoyed this book! You don’t hear much about contemporary sci-fi survivalist books nowadays and the concept behind this one was truly awesome and hella interesting.   Goodreads Blurb:   What happens when the lights go off after what might truly be an end-of-the-world event? How do you stay alive? Who do you trust? How much do you have to sacrifice? ‘After the Lights Go Out is a terrifying yet hope-filled story of disaster, deceit, love, sacrifice and survival.’ – Fleur Ferris Seventeen-year-old Pru Palmer lives with her twin…

7 Book Tropes I Wish Would DIE

We have all have our favourite book tropes that we kind of love reading, but then again we also have those book tropes that are either super overused or that we just think are awful. These are the tropes I honestly wish I don’t ever have to read again, at least unless it’s done very well. There are certain books with the tropes below that I love, but in general, the tropes themselves I hate and wish they could die off. Here we go:   1. The Love Triangle   Ah…what began in Twilight, and kept going in the YA generational trend of paranormal romance. I cannot stand this trope.…
