My Current Auto-Buy Authors

Everyone has their auto-buys authors, those mystical beings that you’ll gladly throw your money to own their books even if you don’t know what the book is about. I happen to have a few and because my collections aren’t exactly massive, I’m slowly acquiring their older releases as well if there are any.

1. Sarah J. Maas

Throne of Glass is one of my favourite series ever, it was the series that got me back into reading and helped me discover the reading world. I love it to bits (and I’m currently shattered from having read Empire of Storms for the first time (RTC), RIP my heart right now) and I’ve basically bought everything Sarah has put out to date. She is, unfortunately, an author that I may put off my auto-buy list in the future depending on what the premise of the ACOTAR spin-off series is. When they announced that there would be two novellas with the inner circle and Feyre then a spin-off I was happy, but then, somehow – we might not be getting new characters at all for protagonists in the spin-off because it might be about Nesta and Cassian. If you don’t know by now, I hate Nesta with a passion fueled by Aelin’s powers. So I might not buy the next spin-off at all, which is sad cause so far I’ve consistently been trash for Sarah’s work.

2. Leigh Bardugo

The Grisha trilogy was another series that got me back into reading when I had just finished high school, barely owned 5 books and I got a Kindle for Christmas. I read through it extremely fast and I just love Leigh’s writing. Six of Crows and The Language of Thorns were also standouts. She is definitely an auto-buy author because of those awesome writing skills.

3. Cassandra Clare

I thought The Mortal Instruments was okay ages ago and I’m in the midst of starting a huge reread to catch up to the Dark Artifices series purely because I loved The Infernal Devices so much. That trilogy has my heart and I will surely be extremely emotional once I reread them this spring/summer. Her writing is great, her characters are interesting – minus the annoying ones that is – and Bree is also obsessed with the Shadowhunter Chronicles so I must keep the faith and read on for her too.

4. Laini Taylor

As the author of my favourite book and my favourite book series, it’s only logical that she’s an auto-buy author. I feel a little behind in that I haven’t continued my read of A Daughter of Smoke and Bone but I will!…one day haha not a current priority.

5. Morgan Matson

Morgan Matson has become one of my favourites authors this year, I love her books, her writing and her character developments and just everything about her books. I’m slowly collecting her older books and get through them all especially since a friend told me that there are little easter eggs of previous characters in all her newer releases. I love that idea and I can’t wait to read more of her stuff.

I have plenty more authors that I love and would readily buy their stuff but I don’t want to make my list too long and ramble forever. The ones I may have omitted have certain circumstances to them or I can’t yet justify them being an auto-buy author because I haven’t read a lot of their work just yet. Anyway, those were my current auto-buy authors!

Do you have any auto-buy authors?

Until next time,

xx Tracy
