May seriously flew by so quickly. I feel really proud of myself for this month because I was really enjoying reading and it was fun! I haven’t felt this sincere joy for reading for pleasure in a while and I think it’s a good sign that my productivity and inspiration is back.
I even did an instagram photoshoot for the first time in ages! Go me 🙂
Unfortunately, at the moment, these are still grim times for the world. My heart goes out to everyone in the POC community, particularly the Indigenous Australians and black people of the world who have had to deal with so much injustice for so long. Even as a mixed-asian woman, I have privileges others don’t and I won’t take that for granted. I watched that footage of George Floyd and I still feel sick to my stomach that a monster could do such a thing. I hope that we can continue to keep protesting the injustices, whether it’s in person or online, to save more lives. Black lives matter, and although I’ll never truly be able to understand, I am one of the many who are taking a stand against racism and the many other issues threatening the basic rights all people, particularly the black community, deserve.
Now onto what I read this May!
Total Books: 5
Total Pages: 2,419
A photo of my May Reads from my Bullet Journal:
I was also reading The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco as part of a buddy read with Katya de Becerra but, I ended up putting that book on hold. I wasn’t really feeling it, and although I’m interested in finishing this book, I’m just not going to do that right now! It’s not a DNF, it’s a very big pause. I’ve done this with a number of books like Morning Star by Pierce Brown, because sometimes you just don’t feel like that kind of fantasy. And that’s fine.
I did do my TBR in my bullet journal but I’ll be honest that I’m not super proud of how it turned out, nevertheless, here it is:
However, it isn’t actually my full TBR! I definitely have more than 4 books to read in mind but it’s a good minimum goal for me to strive towards this month. The full list of books on my TBR are:
The Lost Soul Atlas by Zana Fraillon
Sex and Vanity by Kevin Kwan
Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowen
Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince by JK Rowling (BR with my SO)
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare (The Shadowhunter binge continues!)
The Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare
Tales of the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare
I’m super excited to get onto these books, I’m already reading Half-Blood Prince and The Lost Soul Atlas, which are both going well.
WHAT I WATCHED IN MAY
I have been loving LUCIFER on Netflix. I started this show ages ago but decided to start watching it again while doing yoga the other day, and ever since I’ve been watching multiple episodes every night. It’s so funny and although I’m only in Season 2, I can’t wait to get to Season 4 (the season everyone seems to be raving about, that multiple people had to tell me in my Instagram DMs).
PS: I Still Love You ★★★★★
After what seems like forever since it came out, I finally watched this movie and I don’t know why I was so scared because it ended up being better than the book, just like its predecessor! It gave me all the feels and it was just a great movie. I can’t wait for the last movie ~ not too sure if it’s actually being made but I sure hope so!
I also included a cool photo of my TBR shelf in the feature photo of this post, do you guys have a small space for the books on your immediate or monthly TBR? I’d love to know!
Until next time,
