And just like that, we are nearing the end of year holiday season ~ and what I’m obsessing over at the moment is what to buy my family and friends for Christmas because I absolutely ADORE buying gifts for others. I much prefer buying someone a thoughtful gift than receiving one so this holiday season is always extra exciting for me.
I love the entire process of wrapping the gift, writing the card and this year – I’m actually organised and early enough to dedicate a blog post purely for bookish gift ideas you could consider this season for someone you care about or for yourself!
Although an actual book is probably what most people would think of gifting; it’s sometimes more thoughtful to gift something related to reading and books rather than make book picks for someone else. So today, I’m looking at some unique bookish gifts to help your gifting idea generation this upcoming season.
Let’s get into it 🙂
For The Practical Book Lover: Bookmarks

Most bibliophile will agree with me when I say that you can never have too many bookmarks and the variety of bookmarks you can purchase these days are astounding! Of course, this holiday season you can gift someone a simple printed bookmark but to add some pizazz, I’ve got here a really cute glow in the dark metal bookmark from Etsy merchant Papillon9. That’s certainly a bookmark I’ve now got on my own wishlist!
For The Aesthetic Book Lover: Pillow Covers

Something I personally think is that you can never have too many cushions or pillows! Especially when you can get cushion covers and switch them whenever you want. Pillows, cushions, whatever you like to call them are such cute gifts for book lovers who love their aesthetic book nooks and reading spots to compliment their favourite books! This one is one of many beautiful designs by Catarina Book Designs.
For The Cosy Book Lover: Hooded Blanket

Especially for those coming into the winter season, a cosy bookish blanket feels like the ultimate accessory to a reading experience – especially if you prefer to read in places that aren’t your bed like I do. These adorable hooded blankets look like the OG snuggies but with cuter bookish designs. This particular one was designed by a friend (yasminthereader) with Emposia and looks so cosy!
For The Conscious Book Lover: Kindle Pouches/Book Bags

The first thing I thought in this category was – KINDLES. They’re super popular and a great eco-friendly way to expand your library and bookish ways. Trim & Thread has these beautiful kindle pouches that I’m looking at buying for myself soon. They protect your kindle, make them look even nicer and are reusable! Perfect for the eco-friendly or minimalist booklover.
For The Classics Book Lover: Literary Teas

For book lovers who love their classics and also love a good tea to match, this adorable literary tea set by LiteraryTeaCompany looks so good! It includes 6 different teas to match a different classic, and they come in these snazzy vials ~ I love this gift idea. I’m a tea lover and I feel like bookish teas should become more popular. I’ve bought them before and they are always so unique and bring an extra spark to your brew.
For The Unknown Book Lover: Bookish Candles

Sometimes, you might not be quite sure what to get for someone because you might not know what fandoms they like or what their preferences are and I think the bookish candle businesses are always booming because candles can always make perfect gifts. Made By Nikola is one of the many amazing small businesses that sell bookish candles, with many being not affiliated with any particular fandom or book so it’s open for all book lovers. This Currently Reading candle is one that’s on my wishlist and looks like it smells divine. Perfect for a bookish aromatic reading experience.
And those are my 2020 bookish gift ideas for the holiday season. While researching this, I found SO MANY amazing things to add to my personal wishlist (pray for my bank account when I finally get around to buying them) and I hope you found some new gift ideas here too!
Let me know in the comments what your favourite idea from this list is and what is your favourite bookish gift that you’ve received? Mine was a glorious Kindle.
Until next time,
