I feel so disorganised whenever I think about all the books coming out next year that I have no idea even exist. I used to be so ‘in the know’ on what books were coming out that I could predict book boxes just based on the teasers, but these days, with my minimalist outlook and my intimidating physical tbr – I’m not planning on buying many books!
Therefore, my anticipated 2021 booklist is a bit short. The list isn’t really in any order but I am hoping to read more contemporary and adult books next year since a lot of my current physical tbr is very YA and every fantasy. I also prefer to go into a book blind – or at least with little knowledge so I’ve hyperlinked each cover to the Goodreads page so you can read the blurb fully for yourself if what little knowledge I have is enticing enough.
Let’s get straight into it!
The Mask Falling by Samantha Shannon

I recently finished reading The Mime Order and the Song Rising so OF COURSE, I’m super excited for the next book in The Bone Season series. It’s just so good and so intense but I love the world and the concept and everything Paige has to go through. I’ve already pre-ordered this one and I’m very excited.
Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

After reading two of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s most popular books this year – Daisy Jones & Evelyn Hugo (both of which I LOVED), I am definitely going to be picking up her next novel which gives me gossip girl vibes and I need it!
Blood Like Magic by Liselle Sambury

I saw this in passing on Goodreads because I think it’s the author debut but this book had me when it said it was about a teen witch. I love reading and watching things about witches and all things witchy (my Jan TBR will be particularly witchy) and this will make a great addition to my witch book side of my bookshelves – I hope I love it!
You Have A Match by Emma Lord

I absolutely loved Emma Lord’s debut Tweet Cute so of course, I’m super excited for her next novel (which is another contemporary!). I caught DNA test, lost sister and summer camp in the blurb and knew this would be another fun contemporary to pick up and enjoy.
This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron

Another author follow-up, I read Cinderella is Dead this year and loved Kalynn’s writing style. This Poison Heart is apparently a new series and the main character has powers and this is also an contemporary/urban fantasy – which I need more of in my life tbh. Super keen for this read!
The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

Helen Hoang is just an amazing writer and I absolutely loved both of her previous books – especially since it’s all in the same universe and we get cameos *heart eyes*. The Heart Principle follows Quan’s (previously known character) journey to finding love and I really want to read more romance next year so this should hopefully get me in the mood for more adult romance books.
Other Books With Covers Yet To Be Revealed:
Some books haven’t had their covers revealed yet but I’m nonetheless super excited for them!
Crescent City #2 by Sarah J Maas
I loved the first book in SJM’s new Crescent City series so it’s a no brainer that I want the next book asap!Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson
I’m an absolute sucker for anything Morgan Matson writes so this book is sure to be another contemporary banger that makes me want to cry.
What do you think of my list? Have you got any books I didn’t mention that you’d recommend I check out in 2021?
Until next time,
