March went by so fast! March is also the month where I kind of took a mini-hiatus – particularly on Instagram. I started a new job and I didn’t really read a whole lot but I’m still proud of how many books I managed to read considering I was moving house and acclimating a new cat in our family. It’s been a really busy month haha let’s get into what I read!
What I Read In March
I only DNFed one book this month, an unsolicited adult fiction book that just wasn’t my thing, unfortunately. Otherwise, I think I had a really great month. I really enjoyed most of what I read and I can’t wait to read more in April!
Total Books: 5 (inc. 1 DNF)
Total Pages: 1781 (excl. DNF)
A Court of Silver Flames
★★★★☆ (4/5) | READING BLOG
I cannot believe that I enjoyed this book so much since I had no plans to read it whatsoever. All my thoughts in the reading blog 🙂The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
★★★★★ (5/5) | NO REVIEW
Absolutely loved this book. It was so meaningful, thought-provoking and just a great experience. Highly recommend!New Animal by Ella Baxter
DNF
I really couldn’t get into this book. I got a third through it and I couldn’t connect to the character nor care much about the plot. I find these adult fiction type of books so boring and uninteresting. I just can’t get into the story because they don’t take me away to somewhere different or relevant to my experiences. The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
★★★☆☆ (3/5) | NO REVIEW
Not a particularly amazing novel by Patrick Ness. I predicted that I’d DNF this one so I think it went pretty well considering! I thought the concept of the book was great but the execution just wasn’t there. The Summer Job
★★★★☆ (4/5) | REVIEW TO COME
Read this for The Nerd Daily and really enjoyed it – RTC.
A Short Rant & Blogging Highlights
March was certainly a quiet month for blogging. Because I’ve been so busy, I’ve been quite frustrated because I’m generally too exhausted to get into reading, let alone blog and be socialising with others online. I’ve found that I’m less on social media, not really having the time to blog hop or chat with others – and this transition period to a new routine and life has made it quite hard to stay motivated and passionate. I know that I love blogging and content creating but as a human, I can’t do that all the time and consistency is hard enough to achieve in every other aspect of life as it is.
So at the moment, I’m trying to take it easy. Instagram has particularly hit a nerve because I constantly feel like I’m missing out because I don’t spend much time on there. For blogging though, it’s mostly affected me in that I don’t feel super connected to the community anymore and that affects my self-esteem when it comes to my blog content – especially how often I’m blogging too considering I was aiming for twice a week and so far this year, I’ve been lucky to get once a week. I will try to blog more, I definitely want to! (more than socialising online at the moment anyway) but this is all a process and I need to be easier on myself. I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I hope it kind of makes sense. I’m essentially saying – I’m still passionate about blogging and reading even if I’m not as active about it online and I do want to put more content out – just when I’m mentally able and ready to without stressing myself out.
Anyway, here are two posts I did manage to publish in March:
What I Watched In March
I actually started watching more things in March because it was an easier way to destress than reading when I was so tired I could barely form a coherent sentence.
Firstly, I finally watched Always & Forever, Lara Jean and absolutely loved it. It was such a fitting ending to the series and it makes me so happy to have Lara Jean’s story out there for anyone to watch.
I also started binge-watching The Crown. I’m currently on Season 3 and I am mourning the cast from the first two seasons because Claire Foy is just an amazing Elizabeth. I’m keen to meet more characters and particularly get to see Diana in Season 4.
I also watched Love, Wedding, Repeat which was an interesting rom-com and was very eclectic. I wouldn’t say I loved it cause it was the kind of movie where I kept getting the worst second-hand embarrassment but it was certainly a different way to film a rom-com.
April TBR
I feel pretty happy that I managed to read like 3 out of the 5 books I set out for my March TBR but for April, I’m just going to go with my gut and not set one – just read whatever I feel like so that it’s low pressure. I really want to get back into a routine of reading more often than just twice a week and just enjoying the experience once I get into a set routine. I’m currently, finally, reading The Mask Falling after receiving my preorder in January and I’m already loving it.
What have you got planned for April? What are you currently reading?
Until next time,
