This October, I’m looking forward to participating again in the Breath of the Wildathon Readathon! In case you haven’t heard of it, this readathon is one based on the Breath of the Wild Nintendo game that’s been vastly popular and was created by Little Book Owl to bring together her love of the game and her love for reading. The last time I participated, was actually the very first instance of the readathon (called The Great Plateau) but this time, I’ll be participating in the upcoming Vah Rudania Quest 2.0 which starts on October 1st and ends on October 31th.
There are 4 teams that you can become a part of, so that you follow a trail on the map on the way to defeat and reclaim Vah Rudania, and last time I was on Team Daruk but this time, I’m changing my path to Team Mipha. Team Mipha’s perk is that I’ll get to use one book on my TBR to complete 2 challenges!
Without further ado, here are the challenges on my path to reclaim Vah Rudania and which books I’ll be reading in this month-long readathon for it!
East Reservoir Lake: Read a book with blue on the cover

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
I feel like I’ve been saying I want to read this book for the last 2 years, and it’s finally time I got around to actually reading it! I think this book will be the perfect one to start this readathon with, especially as it fits my current mood for getting back into a little bit of fantasy after a well-earned break from it.
I know little about this book other than the main character living forever, except that nobody remembers who she is. An interesting deal with the devil!
Blood Moon Card + East Akkala Stable: Read a book over 500 pages long & Read a random book from your TBR

Babel by R.F. Kuang
I’ve been so out of the loop with the book community online that I didn’t really know much about this novel until recently. It’s a chunky book by an esteemed author which apparently has an interesting magic system and is all about linguists decoding things! Super intriguing and it was 100% an impulse buy when I saw it in my local bookstore.
Using my team’s perk, I’m combining two challenges for this big book and look forward to reading it!
Akkala Ancient Tech Lab: read a dark academia novel

The Secret History by Donna Tartt
Another highly anticipated novel that was on my Spring TBR, I’m so glad to read another dark academia novel in this readathon (I think I’ve essentially listed all dark academia type books so far?) to fit this prompt. I know quite literally nothing about this book other than many of my friends loving it, highly recommending it and saying that it’s a little bit unhinged in a good way.
I’m keen to see how it goes!
Divine Beast Vah Rudania: ‘FIRE’ Buzzword – read a book with fire or any related word in the title

Marshmallow by Victoria Hannan
I thought I’d switch genres up for the last book to give myself some variety in October and this is also the closest word to Fire for books on my TBR at the moment. I hope it’s close enough! I imagined like marshmallows on a fire perhaps?
This novel is a literary fiction book I actually got gifted from work (bit of a surprise, but I now work in publishing at Hachette!). One of my co-workers is the publicist for this book and highly recommended it to me so I’m interested to see if it fits my tastes in books.
And that’s essentially my October TBR for this exciting readathon! I’m exciting to get into these books and really enjoy myself with some dark academic novels I’ve been meaning to get around to.
Are you participating in this readathon? What’s on your TBR?
Until next time,
