Despite the ‘book buying bans’ I’ve tried to instil in myself in previous years, there are always highly anticipated books that I will buy sooner rather than later as I’m so excited to read them. So far in 2023, my list is quite short but I thought I’d talk about it anyway! Happy Place by Emily Henry I was one of the few that loved Book Lovers so I’m super excited to get her latest release and see what it’s like! You’ll find that I tend to do into standalone books blind so I don’t know what this one is about but it should hopefully be the cute romance I…
My Breath of the Wildathon/October TBR
This October, I’m looking forward to participating again in the Breath of the Wildathon Readathon! In case you haven’t heard of it, this readathon is one based on the Breath of the Wild Nintendo game that’s been vastly popular and was created by Little Book Owl to bring together her love of the game and her love for reading. The last time I participated, was actually the very first instance of the readathon (called The Great Plateau) but this time, I’ll be participating in the upcoming Vah Rudania Quest 2.0 which starts on October 1st and ends on October 31th. There are 4 teams that you can become a part…
Is Reading Popular Again? BookTok and Its Impact
I feel like I’ve lived under a rock because I don’t actually have TikTok and only see glimpses of the world of TikTok through Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, but I can’t go into any bookstore now without seeing the massive ’BookTok’ sections that have massive stacks of popular romances I’ve been seeing rave about on all platforms in the last year at least. It’s so cool to see so many books flourishing in an industry that many people were saying was on the verge on dying a few years ago. It’s true that the pandemic has largely helped some industries including publishing do incredibly well as people turned to…
My Spring TBR – What Books I’m Looking Forward To Reading Next
I’m so happy that it’s finally spring! I used to be such a winter bug, enjoying the cold weather but this year, winter was just a bit much, and I’ve been loving the rays of sunshine and being able to comfortably sit and read a book without cranking on the heater before my toes are numb. With that, I’m also almost done with my reading challenge which is super exciting! So my spring tbr is very much, the next few books I’d love to get to in the next month or so (and it’s also a bit of a mini-haul as these are newer books!). I’ve found myself enjoying book…
Goodreads Awards Nominated Books I’m Adding to My TBR
As it happens every year, the Goodreads awards have been announced and I almost didn’t even get a vote because I barely go on Goodreads anymore! I managed to vote in the last 2 rounds and since I didn’t read as much as I did last year, many of the titles were strangers to me. It was a bit sad but it also made me excited to see what books I could get into next year! I watched a few booktubers who went through some of the nominees and found myself really keen to read more Romance like I’ve been wanting to for ages and like I said in my…
10 Positive Affirmations: The Bookworm Edition
I feel like affirmations have become super popular amongst my friends and online. Almost every day I’ll see or hear someone saying “I’m manifesting” this or that and sharing their positive affirmations about life and themselves. So, I thought it would be a fun post to a bookworm version! Note: this is all in fun and gest, but I hope you enjoy them for what they represent – the unity of shared experiences many bookworms around the world have together. I will not succumb to the pretty cover and buy more books I will not read until 2025. I can finish this book even though Netflix is calling my name.…
Chit Chat Monday: My October Wrap-Up, November TBR & Reading Goals
Welcome to another Monday chit chat post! I had planned to do this last week but work and life were so incredibly hectic now that Melbourne is finally out of lockdown and I didn’t have much time to do anything blog or even reading-related. I swapped out reading for TV I found myself watching Buzzfeed Unsolved, Terrace House and the new LoL inspired series Arcane on Netflix to relax because of my crazy schedule in the last week. As a League of Legends player, it was a huge event that took the majority of my Sunday. We watched all 3 episodes that are now currently available and I can confirm…
Chit Chat Monday: My Current Read & Current Favourites
I’ve been really motivated and in the mood for blogging today but didn’t really know what to blog about…so I thought I might to chat about what I’m reading, what my current favourites are and see what you guys are reading! I recently recreated my home office space for work, studying and blogging and it’s really inspired me. I’m in love with it (see picture above) and I can’t wait to be more productive. Let’s get onto the ‘currents’! Current Read: I’m currently in the middle of The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I’ve been reading this book for like a month, and I’ve been so slow. I’m not sure…
My Breath of the Wildathon TBR
Another readathon – another challenge! This one, I simply had to join. I have been doing some reading streams with the lovely Little Book Owl, who co-founded the Breath of The Wildathon – AND since I’ve actually been reading so much more (3 books so far this month! and essentially completed the 2 books for the Magical Readathon), I thought ‘why not?’. This readathon is particularly fun as there are perks, there is a special map, there is a Blood Mood card that randomly generates a prompt for you. It’s all very exciting. There are a few teams with different perks and you can learn all about it on the…
Magical Readathon: Orilium 2021 TBR
Hello friends! It’s been a while. I took a bit of time off from blogging due to many personal life changes, working a lot, and because I’ve honestly been having lots of fun gaming and streaming over on my Twitch channel. It’s been really great to hang out with friends, play games to wind down after work but as reading is my OG hobby, I’m finally getting back into reading and blogging. I honestly barely read in August and didn’t finish a book. I’m in the middle of one now which will count towards this month’s TBR. I’m still in lockdown in Melbourne and I’m soon starting a new job,…
