    My Highly Anticipated 2021 Releases

I feel so disorganised whenever I think about all the books coming out next year that I have no idea even exist. I used to be so ‘in the know’ on what books were coming out that I could predict book boxes just based on the teasers, but these days, with my minimalist outlook and my intimidating physical tbr – I’m not planning on buying many books! Therefore, my anticipated 2021 booklist is a bit short. The list isn’t really in any order but I am hoping to read more contemporary and adult books next year since a lot of my current physical tbr is very YA and every fantasy.…

I Must Confess [but I still believe] | My Book Blogger Confessions

I know it’s been a hot minute since I blogged so I thought I’d come back stronger than ever by roasting none other than myself! When it gets to this time of year, I think it’s always good to reflect and today – I’m airing out my own dirty laundry and owning up to my blogger confessions. I’m not proud but let this be more appropriate than the viral YouTuber apology videos. I’m the Worst Book Club Member I know. It’s shameful but I find it super hard to commit to a book club. For a lot of them, I’ll read the first book and then ditch it because I…

Avoiding Burnout, Life Update & What I’m Currently Reading

November has been a crazy month! The strict lockdown in Melbourne ended and we celebrating almost a month of no new COVID cases which is amazing. With lockdown easing, I’ve been able to go out and do things with my SO and we haven’t been at home as often (naturally). Unfortunately, because of being able to go out – y’know, have a somewhat sort of social life, and my favourite; being able to go shopping for things and just browsing (a small hobby of mine), I have been exhausted. My body and my mind are still getting used to not being cooped up in an apartment for months on end…

Reading ‘Blog’: Vicious & Vengeful by V.E. Schwab

After reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab – I have been SO excited to pick up the next of her books that I own and I happen to have a copy of both Vicious and Vengeful. So I thought, what better time to pick up a couple of spooky-looking books in a duology than in October when everyone seems to be reading spooky books for Halloween? After finishing Ace of Shades, I hope I’m not in any particular slump and can get through these comfortably. If you have read these books before and also want to check out my spoilery thoughts on the books as I read…

Quarterly Check-In | My Reading & Blogging Goals

It is driving me nuts that the construct of time is completely out of whack now we’ve been in a lockdown for months and isolating for so long. Time goes by so fast but feels so slow – we’re already halfway through October!! With the last 2 months being my best reading and blogging months, I thought I would reflect a little bit on the goals I set out for myself at the very start of 2020. How am I going? Have I achieved many of them yet? Let’s Go! My Reading & Blogging Goals To start us off, these are the goals I set for myself at the beginning…

My Pet Peeves With The Publishing Industry

After being in this community for over 3 years now and really immersing myself in the “book world” which is essentially a minority of the publishing industry, a few things have really struck a nerve. Not just as a reader but as a slight perfectionist. Where else to complain about anything on the internet in a safe and healthy way, than on my own blog in my little corner of cyberspace? Please know that these aren’t serious or life-changing complaints, they are pet peeves. Just those tiny little things you wished could be changed to make your preferences (not your life) a little easier. A quick disclaimer that I fully…

The Ultimate Guide to Being a Buddy Reader

Without even realising it, I inexplicably found myself in the middle of 3 buddy reads in the last month – which was kind of amazing and it inspired me to write a bit about it because although I haven’t done many buddy-reads with people; I think I’ve got most of the elements down pat. So why not create a quick guide? First up; what is buddy reading? Buddy Reading: Buddy reading is a great way to help your child gain fluency. In buddy reading, you and your child take turns reading by sentence, paragraph, or page. Also called paired reading or partner reading, buddy reading has multiple benefits, but perhaps…

Underrated & Unsolicited: Exciting YA Releases I Received & Want To Read Soon

Any blogger can relate to the moment when you receive your first ARC and/or unsolicited book from a publisher. It’s a beautiful moment full of pride and a sense of accomplishment that you’re blessed enough to get a book…FOR FREE. The cons of that of course is that…they sometimes keep coming, unsolicited – without being requested, and a huge pressure begins to grow because there are already SO many books you want to get to but these JUST SHOWED UP. I remember feeling so happy yet so goddamn guilty because I wasn’t getting around to reading these beautiful books – that definitely sounded interesting but just weren’t what I was…

Reading ‘Blog’: The Beautiful & The Damned by Renée Ahdieh

Hello everyone! I had…no idea how good my ‘Reading Blog’ for To Sleep In A Sea of Stars would end up being here (my official review for the book is out btw!) and I was so surprised and overwhelmed with the positive response. I had already planned to do another and today’s reading blog is for The Beautiful and The Damned by Renée Ahdieh! Renée’s latest series that have had mixed reviews, especially as they feature an old YA creature we haven’t seen in a while…vampires! A quick disclaimer before I begin, I had no idea that The Perks of Being Noura, a blogging goddess herself, had already been doing…

Reading ‘Blog’: To Sleep In A Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

As a proud member of the book community, I am well versed in the art of watching reading vlogs by booktubers I admire and love. It’s so cool to be able to see someone’s reactions and thoughts as they are reading a book, and I was like – why can’t I do that? Obviously, I don’t want to show my face and push myself into a dark pit of disastrous commitment by starting a YouTube Channel — but why can’t I still do a reading vlog style blog post? So here it is! The book in today’s revolutionary blog post is none other than To Sleep In A Sea of…
