6 Month Wrap-Up | My April to September Reads

Okay. It has been a hot minute since I did a wrap-up, and honestly, it’s because I haven’t been reading much! Or blogging much (but that’s okay). The ongoing pandemic, some big life changes, and the usual obstacles have been a wild ride but I’m proud to be back on the reading wagon and just the fact I technically have been reading the last few months (except for August). I figured, why not do a small post to write out what I’ve read in the last 6 months, get myself back on track and just celebrate the lovely books I read! Let’s get into it! April The Mask Falling by…

My Breath of the Wildathon TBR

Another readathon – another challenge! This one, I simply had to join. I have been doing some reading streams with the lovely Little Book Owl, who co-founded the Breath of The Wildathon – AND since I’ve actually been reading so much more (3 books so far this month! and essentially completed the 2 books for the Magical Readathon), I thought ‘why not?’. This readathon is particularly fun as there are perks, there is a special map, there is a Blood Mood card that randomly generates a prompt for you. It’s all very exciting. There are a few teams with different perks and you can learn all about it on the…

Are you a book snob? The Book Snob Book Tag

Hey there! Today, I’m bringing you a fun book tag that I found inspiration from another blogger, Esther from Cozy with Books! I saw this tag and really liked the questions so I thought I’d try it myself. Tia and all the books, I believe is the original creator of this tag. Without further ado, let’s see if I’m a book snob or not! Adaptation Snob: Do you always read the book before watching the film/ TV show? I feel like I definitely used to that mindset when I was younger but quickly realised how much pressure I felt to do read the book before watching the film/tv show. Now,…

    Magical Readathon: Orilium 2021 TBR

Hello friends! It’s been a while. I took a bit of time off from blogging due to many personal life changes, working a lot, and because I’ve honestly been having lots of fun gaming and streaming over on my Twitch channel. It’s been really great to hang out with friends, play games to wind down after work but as reading is my OG hobby, I’m finally getting back into reading and blogging. I honestly barely read in August and didn’t finish a book. I’m in the middle of one now which will count towards this month’s TBR. I’m still in lockdown in Melbourne and I’m soon starting a new job,…

The Shut Ins by Katherine Brabon Book Review

I have been slumping so hard lately but little by little, I managed to finish this book! I read a little on my lunch breaks, in between games, before bed; in an attempt to integrate reading back into my life and I think this book resonated with me quite well despite a rough start. Huge thanks to Allen & Unwin Australia who sent me a review copy in exchange for an honest review. This novel came out on July 2nd, so this is a tidbit late but well worth it in my opinion. First up, what is The Shut Ins about: Goodreads Blurb Mai and Hikaru went to school together…

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag | 2021 Edition

So…despite not posting on this blog for a while – I noticed my stats going off on last year’s Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag (shocked pikachu face) and damn, I’m so grateful! But also, this is the perfect time to do the tag again! I haven’t been reading as much this year but I’m honestly cruising along guilt-free and embracing my reading motivation as it comes. Now that I’ve got some energy and motivation to blog, let’s talk about my reading so far this year and what I’ve loved and not-so-loved. I’m super excited for more blog content to come – so look out for that too! This tag was…

The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent Book Review

I don’t know about you but when I’m feeling kind of slumpy – nothing is better to get me out than a good contemporary and this new adult rom-com was exactly what I was looking for! Huge thanks to Penguin Australia through The Nerd Daily for providing me with an advanced reading copy in exchange for a review. This review was first published on The Nerd Daily here and now I have the pleasure of sharing it with you all on the blog 🙂 Content warning: alcoholism, toxic parenting. (this is not discussed in the review but an FYI). Goodreads Blurb: Have you ever imagined running away from your life?…

Blogger Appreciation: The Power Of A Review

This time, I thought I’d do a different kind of blogger appreciation post. Instead of appreciating 5-6 specific bloggers, I thought I’d talk about how powerful every blogger is. To this day, it baffles me seeing the number of bloggers out there and the influence they have on everyday readers. It might not seem like you’re doing a whole lot sometimes but your opinion does matter and a simple book review is all that can change someone’s choice to buy, recommend or unhaul a book at any time. As someone that works in marketing, I frequently have to think about this thing called the ‘customer journey’. It’s literally the journey…
