Quarterly Check-In | My Reading & Blogging Goals

It is driving me nuts that the construct of time is completely out of whack now we’ve been in a lockdown for months and isolating for so long. Time goes by so fast but feels so slow – we’re already halfway through October!! With the last 2 months being my best reading and blogging months, I thought I would reflect a little bit on the goals I set out for myself at the very start of 2020. How am I going? Have I achieved many of them yet? Let’s Go! My Reading & Blogging Goals To start us off, these are the goals I set for myself at the beginning…

The Art of Blog Monetisation: Making Money From Blogging, Affiliate Links & More

You may not have noticed if you check out my blog posts on WordPress Reader but…*drumroll*, I was approved for my very first Affiliate Partnership with an Australian bookshop some of you may be familiar with; Angus & Robertson. So you’ll see a small little banner at the bottom of every post and there’s also one somewhere in my blog sidebar. Although all the physical stores of Angus & Robertson bookshops closed down in 2011 (rip my old friend), I thought I would help support them especially since I use them to buy books online when I do, and I hardly ever see any affiliates for this Australian bookshop; I mostly see…

How To Write A Book Review | My Book Review Writing Guide

How To Write A Book Review | My Book Review Writing Guide Writing a book review can be tricky. Sometimes you feel an itch after you read a book that you need to discuss it and sometimes you’ve enjoyed or not enjoyed it and absently don’t think about it ever again. Reviewing isn’t for everybody and isn’t for every book. It is largely based on what the individual wants to share in their review to express their opinions on the book. However, I have had a few people ask me how I write my book reviews or just mention how they like my style of reviewing (thank you so much,…

BLOGIFUL DAY 6: Blog Coding 101

Customizing Your Blog With Code: HTML, CSS & Plugin Basics   What is HTML & CSS? As cool as it would be, blogs are unfortunately not created by magic and yes, do involve coding. Basic coding, however, isn’t super hard to understand and make up the basic building blocks of all websites including blogs. Now, with WordPress, depending on what kind you use, you can alter your blog and change its HTML (WordPress.com & WordPress.org) and CSS (WordPress.org). As defined by Wikipedia, HTML is: “Hypertext Markup Language is the standard markup language for creating web pages and web applications.“, which is jumbo jumbo for the language you use to create…

Your blog menu is the core of how others can navigate your site and if they can’t navigate very well, your blog doesn’t have as great of a user experience as it could achieve. BLOGIFUL DAY 3: Photography Tips

Photography Tips | What If You Don’t Prefer Graphics?   Who said you had to have graphics to have a cute blog? While my lovely co-host Kat has a super cute and beautiful blog with the most adorable graphics (don’t forget to check out her BLOGIFUL posts right >>HERE<<), I, on the other hand, have preferred to use mostly photos for my imagery. Personally, I think it works great and it works for me. It keeps things interesting and not as completely uniform or synonymous and I also like that I can incorporate my bookstagram photos into my blog too. If you would prefer to use photography rather than graphics,…
