Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust Book Mini-Review

Hello everybody! It feels like forever since I blogged even though it’s been just over a week. I’ve been so busy with work, my post-grad studies and actually being able to go out and do things since the lockdown in Melbourne has significantly eased. I don’t feel like I’ve read a whole lot in November so far but I’m taking it easy. Today, I’m bringing you a little mini-review for my first read of November – Girl, Serpent, Thorn! I purchased this a few months ago for my birthday (a present to myself hehe) and I’m so happy to have been able to pick it up so fast – I’m…

Home Time Vol 1 & Vol 2 Graphic Novel Reviews

At the beginning of October, I felt like I had slowly started to get into a reading slump. And last week, it hit me in full force. I just wasn’t super motivated to read – but, one of the best ways for me to get out of a reading slump is to pick up a few graphic novels and I had the great opportunity to receive Home Time Vol 1 and Vol 2 in exchange for an honest review! Huge thanks to Penguin Random House Australia for sending the digital copies and also sending me a beautiful and very heavy hardcover copy of Home Time Vol 2! This middle grade…

I Read A Bunch Of Heist YA Books | 3 Book Reviews

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I physically groan every time I see a book being described as ‘The NEXT SIX OF CROWS’. It has become apparent that comparing books with bestsellers just doesn’t always work because certain readers who absolutely LOVE Six of Crows (as I do, I’m actually rereading it at the moment) will end up disappointed. Why would they be disappointed? Because Six of Crows is a heist book with a heist trope that almost every single book or movie or anything that involves a heist has. It pertains to a certain theme that comes with the trope. This includes a gang of unlikely individuals coming…

Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin Audiobook Review

First and foremost, if you haven’t read Serpent & Dove (find my review here), I’d highly recommend you to do that and to do that before you read the blurb for the book below cause it’s obviously a tad spoiler to the ending of S&D. I have been pretty excited about this release! I really enjoyed Serpent & Dove when I read it at the end of last year and this COVER. It is stunning and the cliffhanger at the end of S&D solidified that I needed this sequel. I think a lot of people highly anticipated this book. Although I haven’t got a physical copy, Scribd put out its…

To Sleep In A Sea Of Stars by Christopher Paolini Book Review

Just when thought I wouldn’t be reading many adult books this month, my lovely SO sealed my fate. As you might have found out in my Reading Blog for this book, where I detailed my reactions as I read it (non-spoiler); my SO is a huge fan of Christopher Paolini and begged me to try and get an eARC for us to read. Low and behold, my editor at The Nerd Daily came with the e-goods (love you Elise) and I was on a long ride to finish this thick 880-page adult science fiction novel that is part of a grand and brand new fictional world called the Fractalverse. If…

So I Watched A Bunch Of Studio Ghibli Movies For The First Time…

It might be a bit of shocker but…before this month, I have never watched a Studio Ghibli movie. I didn’t even really know much about them until last year because a couple of my friends are huge fans. Since being in a stage 4 lockdown and after beginning a weekly routine of painting my nails and watching a movie; I decided, let’s finally watch these movies that my friends have been raving on about for so long. I wasn’t sure what to start with at first, but a few booktubers I watch consistently talked about Kiki’s Delivery Service so I thought I’d start there. I did some research, scouted out…

    Cinderella Is Dead Book Review

I have been seeing this beautiful book on my feed and recommended by people in the book community A LOT well before it’s publication date (yesterday). So I was pretty excited to read this book; thank you so much to Bloomsbury Publishing Australia for kindly sending me a finished copy in exchange for an honest review (as well as a couple of others I’m so grateful for). I absolutely flew through this gorgeous book and cannot wait to share my thoughts with you below. Goodreads Blurb: It’s 200 years since Cinderella found her prince, but the fairytale is over. Sophia knows the story though, off by heart. Because every girl…

Skyward by Brandon Sanderson Book Review

I discovered Brandon Sanderson a long time ago, I even bought his Mistborn trilogy over a year ago but never got to it. His books are notoriously big and always fantasy filled that I’ve been pretty intimidated to pick his books. When Skyward came out, I was pretty apprehensive cause it was another Brandon Sanderson book – but this one was YA and everybody started talking about it. I had friends in real life tell me how good this book was and this year, when I got an Amazon gift card; I decided, let’s try this out. Let’s buy Skyward and see how Brandon Sanderson’s writing is. Let’s just say…

    Our Chemical Hearts Book Review

This book is one of those contemporaries I had heard so much about from friends and bookstagram but just never got around to buying because I already have so many of those on my shelves. However, it just happened that I found out through a newsletter that this book is getting its own movie, featuring Lili Reinhart, that comes out in August on Amazon Prime and Penguin Teen Australia were kind enough to send me a review copy before I could watch the movie. So, a huge thank you to Penguin Teen Australia because I LOVED this book and I cannot wait to see the movie adaptation. I’ll be doing…

    Cursed Book Review

I had personally never heard of this book until I was perusing a Penguin Teen email about their newest releases, and it stated that this was becoming a Netflix adaptation! I was intrigued, and Penguin kindly sent me the movie tie-in of the book in exchange for a review, so thank you Penguin Teen Australia! This book is authored by Thomas Wheeler but there is also artwork in between the story which was created by Frank Miller. From the reviews on Goodreads before reading this, I was optimistic that I would enjoy it especially because I love the Arthurian Legend retellings. I was a huge fan of the TV Show…
